Abrasive flow machining (AFM) is an abrasive-based precision finishing process used for achieving surface finish in micro and nano-level. The AFM polishes surfaces by extruding a visco-elastic media in contact with the workpiece. The media, also called a ‘flexible tool’, plays a key role in the performance of the process. Ultrasonic assisted abrasive flow machining (UAAFM) is a new variant of the AFM process in which the workpiece is subjected to mechanical vibration orthogonal to the media flow direction. In this process a high frequency, in the range of about 5–20 kHz, is given to the workpiece with the help of a piezo actuator and a specially designed fixture. The present work highlights on the possible behaviour of the tool (media) during UAAFM and its effect on the machining process through a computation based approach. Commercially available simulation tool was used to study the effect of the media in response to different set of machining conditions. The responses were evaluated in terms of changes in the fluid pressure, velocity profile of the fluid, temperature distribution in the working fluid and the possible wall shear on the work surface. A three-dimensional model was constructed for simulating the UAAFM process. The simulation shows that the abrasive particles tend to hit the target surface at an angle ‘θ’ which significantly affects the basic mechanisms involved and enhances the effectiveness of the process. The computed wall shear explains that the process will have higher finishing rate and hence the performance. The enhanced interaction of abrasive media in UAAFM while compared to simple AFM could be explained by the resultant pressure–velocity phenomena. Results show that while changes in the amplitude of applied vibration (10 μm and 50 μm) significantly affect the wall shear, the media velocity and pressure profiles are only marginally sensitive to this parameter. The simulation results also confirm that the rise in temperature during the process will not affect the media stability. Results have been discussed vis-a-vis the basic mechanism of the process through suitable illustrations.  相似文献

The recent trend of integration among new network services such as the long-term evolution (LTE) based on internet protocol (IP) needs reputable analyses and prediction information on the internet traffic. The IP along with increased internet traffics due to expanding new service platforms such as smartphones will reflect policies such as network QoS according to new services. The establishment of monitoring methods and analysis plans is thus required for the development of internet traffics that will analyze their status and predict their future. The paper with the speed of Internet traffic model is developed for monitoring the state of the experiment and verified. The problem is that the proposed service Internet service provider (ISP) to resolve the conflict between the occurrences can be considerably Internet traffic and that the state of data may be helpful in understanding. The paper advancement policy to reflect the network traffic volume of Internet services and users irradiation with increased traffic due to the development and management of the analysis was carried out experimental measurements.  相似文献

Selfies refer to self-portraits taken by oneself using a digital camera or a smartphone. They become increasingly popular in social media. However, little is known about how selfies reflect their owners’ personality traits and how people judge others’ personality from selfies. In this study, we examined the association between selfies and personality by measuring participants’ Big Five personality and coding their selfies posted on a social networking site. We found specific cues in selfies related to agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness. We also examined zero-acquaintance personality judgment and found that observers had moderate to strong agreement in their ratings of Big Five personality based on selfies. However, they could only accurately predict selfie owners’ degree of openness. This study is the first to reveal personality-related cues in selfies and provide a picture-coding scheme that can be used to analyze selfies. We discussed the difference between personality expression in selfies and other types of photos, and its possible relationship with impression management of social media users.  相似文献

In mobile-based traffic monitoring applications, each user provides real-time updates on their location and speed while driving. This data is collected by a centralized server and aggregated to provide participants with current traffic conditions. Successful participation in traffic monitoring applications utilizing participatory sensing depends on two factors: the information utility of the estimated traffic condition, and the amount of private information (position and speed) each participant reveals to the server. We assume each user prefers to reveal as little private information as possible, but if everyone withholds information, the quality of traffic estimation will deteriorate. In this paper, we model these opposing requirements by considering each user to have a utility function that combines the benefit of high quality traffic estimates and the cost of privacy loss. Using a novel Markovian model, we mathematically derive a policy that takes into account the mean, variance and correlation of traffic on a given stretch of road and yields the optimal granularity of information revelation to maximize user utility. We validate the effectiveness of this policy through real-world empirical traces collected during the Mobile Century experiment in Northern California. The validation shows that the derived policy yields utilities that are very close to what could be obtained by an oracle scheme with full knowledge of the ground truth.  相似文献

This paper uses a mixed-methods approach to examine the relation between online academic disclosure and academic performance. A multi-ethnic sample of college students (N = 261; male = 66; female = 195; M age ≈ 22 years) responded to open-ended questions about their Facebook use. Thematic analysis revealed that over 14% of the Facebook wall posts/status updates (N = 714) contained academic themes; positive states were more frequent than negative and neutral states and students with lower GPAs expressed negative states more often. A path analysis suggested that academic performance may determine college students’ Facebook use, rather than the reverse. Implications for student support services are discussed.  相似文献

Social media-based screening is a well-known practice to both recruiters and job seekers. Little is known, however, about how job seekers present themselves on social media, i.e. ‘self-disclosure’, for employment purposes. This study builds on the theories of hyperpersonal computer-mediated communication, self-efficacy and social exchange to examine job seekers’ professional online image concerns, social media self-efficacy, and perceptions of social media effectiveness in the job search as predictors of inappropriate and career-oriented self-disclosures on these media. Findings from a sample of 3374 Italian respondents showed that career-oriented self-disclosure was predicted by all three factors, whereas inappropriate self-disclosure was only predicted by social media self-efficacy. Furthermore, the relationship between professional online image concerns and inappropriate self-disclosure was moderated by age, education and work experience, but not by gender. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed, and directions for future research are suggested.  相似文献
